About

Our Mission

The mission of Baptist Bible Church is to be a local assembly of believers who are making and maturing disciples in our local church and community for the praise and glory of God.

Love

Our love for God and others is authentic and vibrant, rooted in the two greatest commandments: to love God with all our heart, soul, and mind, and to love our neighbor as ourselves. We aim to teach and embody this love across our ministries, pursuing a deep understanding of God’s love so that it becomes the heartbeat and focus of all we do (Matthew 22:37-40; Mark 12:30-31).

Grow

Our focus on growth, stems from II Peter 3:18 and Deuteronomy 6, centering on discipleship that begins in the home and extends through an intentional and multi-generational community. We are committed to growing closer to the Lord and guiding others to do the same, modeling a vibrant Christian life that reflects the qualities of faith, virtue, and love (2 Peter 1:3-8).

Show

Our mission is to serve God and others wholeheartedly within the home, church, and local community, following Jesus’ example of a servant’s heart (Galatians 5:13). By serving with zeal (Romans 12:11), we aim to demonstrate to others a commitment to serve God faithfully (II Timothy 2:2).

Church Staff

Pastor Jonathan Budd and his family moved to the Eastern Shore in September 2025. Jon is originally from New York and his wife, Joy is originally from Milford, DE. The Lord called the Budd family from Middletown, DE to love and serve Jesus Christ at Baptist Bible Church. They have three boys who they love dearly. They are grateful to be called to serve the Eastern Shore community and call Virginia their new home.

Pastor Jon's passion and vision for the church is to be an assembly of believers who are equipped and empowered by the Gospel to make and mature disciples of Jesus Christ.  The Budds are thrilled to serve at Baptist Bible Church to see what the Lord will continue to do for His praise and glory!

Our Beliefs

  • Of the Scriptures

The Bible is verbally inspired by God. It is truth without any mixture of error and is the sole rule of faith and practice for believers. 2 Tim. 3:16–17; 2 Pet. 1:21; Matt. 5:18; 1 Cor. 2:13

  • Of the Trinity

There is one living and true God who exists in three Persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

The Father is God, the Son is God, and the Holy Spirit is God. John 14:20; Isa. 9:6; John 1:1,14; Heb. 1:8–10; Acts 5:3–4

  • Of the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit convicts sinners, regenerates, sanctifies, indwells, and fills the believer for effective service. John 16:8; Eph. 5:18

  • Of the Devil, or Satan

We believe that Satan was once holy, and enjoyed heavenly honors; but through pride and ambition to be as the Almighty, fell and drew after him a host of angels; that he is now the malignant prince of the power of the air, and the unholy god of this world. We hold him to be man's great tempter, the enemy of God and His Christ, the accuser of the saints, the author of all false religions, the chief power back of the present apostasy; the lord of the anti-christ, and the author of all the powers of darkness—destined however to final defeat at the hands of God's own Son, and to the judgment of an eternal justice in hell, a place prepared for him and his angels. Isa. 14:12-15; Ezek. 28:14-17; Rev. 12:9; Jude 6; II Pet. 2:4; Eph. 2:2; John 14:30; I Thess. 3:5; Matt. 4:1-3; I Pet. 5:8; II Cor. 11:13-15; Mark 13:21-22; I John 4:3; II John 7; I John 2:22; Rev. 13:13-14; II Thess. 2:8-11; Rev. 19:11; Rev. 19:16; Rev. 20:1-3; Rev. 12:7-9; Rev. 20:1-3, 10; Matt. 25:41.

  • Of Creation

We believe in the Genesis account of creation, and that it is to be accepted literally. All things were created in six literal days and on the seventh day, God rested. Man was created in God's own image and after His own likeness in human flesh. That all animal and vegetable life was made directly and God's established law was that they should bring forth only "after their kind." Gen. 1:1; Ex. 20:11; Acts 4:24; Col. 1:16-17; Heb. 11:3; John 1:3; Rev. 10:6; Rom. 1:20; Acts 17:23-26; Jer. 10:12; Neh. 9:6; Gen. 1:26-27; Gen. 2:21-23; Gen. 1:11; Gen. 1:24.

  • Of Fallen Man

All men inherit a depraved nature and are lost sinners in need of salvation.

    Rom. 3:9–19; Eph. 2:1–3

  • Of the Virgin Birth

The Lord Jesus Christ was born of a virgin, lived among us without sin as perfect man and perfect God.

    Isa. 7:14; Matt. 1:18–25; Luke 1:26–38

  • Of the Atonement

We believe that the salvation of sinners is wholly of grace; through the mediatorial offices of the Son of God, who by appointment of the Father, freely took upon Him our nature, yet without sin, honored the divine law by His personal obedience, and by His death made a full and vicarious atonement for our sins; that His atonement was the voluntary substitution of Himself in the sinner's place, the Just dying for the unjust, Christ, the Lord, bearing our sins in His own body on the tree; that, having risen from the dead, He is now enthroned in heaven and uniting in His wonderful person the tenderest sympathies with divine perfection, He is every way qualified to be a suitable, a compassionate and an all-sufficient Saviour. Eph. 2:8; Acts 15:11; Rom. 3:24; John 3:16; Matt. 18:11; Phil. 2:7; Heb. 2:14; Isa. 53:4-7; Rom. 3:25; I John 4:10; I Cor. 15:3; II Cor. 5:21; John 10:18; Phil. 2:8; Gal. 1:4; I Pet. 2:24; I Pet. 3:18; Isa. 53:11; Heb. 12:2; I Cor. 15:20; Isa. 53:12; Heb. 9:12-15; Heb. 7:25; I John 2:2.

  • Of Grace in the New Creation

We believe that in order to be saved, sinners must be born again; that the new birth is a new creation in Christ Jesus; that it is instantaneous and not a process; that in the new birth the one dead in trespasses and in sins is made a partaker of the divine nature and receives eternal life, the free gift of God; that the new creation is brought about in a manner above our comprehension, not by culture, not by character, nor by the will of man, but wholly and solely by the power of the Holy Spirit in connection with divine truth, so as to secure our voluntary obedience to the gospel; that its proper evidence appears in the holy fruits of repentance and faith and newness of life. John 3:3; II Cor. 5:17; Luke 5:27; I John 5:1; John 3:6-7; Acts 2:41; II Pet. 1:4; Rom. 6:23; Eph. 2:1; II Cor. 5:19; Col. 2:13; John 1:12-13; Gal. 5:22; Eph. 5:9; I Pet. 1:18-23.

  • Of the Freeness of Salvation

God has provided salvation through offering His Son on the cross of Calvary, and allowing His blood to be shed to atone for our sins.   Rom. 3:25; Heb. 9:22

We are saved and justified when we recognize ourselves as sinners, and we put our trust in Christ as the Son of God and His finished work on the cross of Calvary. Salvation is by grace through faith in Christ alone. Rom. 3:24, 4:5; Eph. 2:8–9

  • Of Repentance and Faith

We believe that Repentance and Faith are solemn obligations, and also inseparable graces, wrought in our souls by the quickening Spirit of God; thereby, being deeply convicted of our guilt, danger and helplessness, and of the way of salvation by Christ, we turn to God with unfeigned contrition, confession and supplication for mercy; at the same time heartily receiving the Lord Jesus Christ and openly confessing Him as our only and all-sufficient Saviour. Acts 20:21; Mark 1:15; Acts 2:37-38; Luke 18:13; Rom. 10:13; Psm. 51:1-4; Psm. 51:7; Isa. 55:6-7; Luke 12:8; Rom. 10:9-11.

  • Of the Church

We believe that a Baptist Church is a local, visible, called-out assembly of baptized believers convened to fulfill the Gospel, such congregation being associated by a covenant of faith and fellowship of the Gospel, said church being understood to be the citadel and propagator of the Divine and Eternal Grace; observing the ordinances of Christ; governed by His laws; exercising the gifts, rights, and privileges invested in them by His Word; that its officers of ordination are Lead Pastors whose qualifications, claims, and duties are clearly defined in the scriptures; we believe the true mission of the church is found in the Great Commission: First, to make individual disciples; Second, to build up the church; Third, to teach and instruct as He has commanded. We hold that the local church has the absolute right of self-government, free from the interference of any hierarchy of individuals or organizations; and that the one and only superintendent is Christ through the Holy Spirit; that it is scriptural for true churches to cooperate with each other in contending for the faith and for the furtherance of the Gospel; that every church is the sole and only judge of the measure and method of its cooperation; on all matters of membership, of policy, of government, of discipline, of benevolence, the will of the local church is final. Acts 2:41,42,47; Acts 13:1-3; I Cor. 1:2; II Cor. 8:23,24; Gal. 1:2,22; Eph. 1:22,23; Acts 1:4-8; Matt. 16:18; 18:15-17; 28:16-20; Mark 16:14-20; Acts 1:4-8; Acts 2:41; II Pet. 1:14; Rom. 6:3-5; Matt. 3:16-17; John 3:23; Acts 8:36-39; Rom. 6:4; Col. 2:12; I Cor. 11:2; II Thess. 2:15; Eph. 4:11-12; I Tim. 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9; Acts 20:17-28; Phil. 1:1; Psm. 72:11; Mal. 3:10; Lev. 27:32; I Cor. 16:2; Acts 11:29; II Cor. 8:5; Heb. 7:2,4; Matt. 23:23; Acts 4:34-37.

  • Of Baptism and the Lord's Supper

    a. We believe that Christian baptism is the immersion in water of a believer; in the name of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, with the authority of the local church, to show forth in a solemn and beautiful emblem our faith in the crucified, buried and risen Saviour, with its effect in our death to sin and resurrection to a new life. Baptism in no way saves any one nor washes away any sin nor bestows any grace. Baptism in the fruit of the vine are to commemorate together the dying love of Christ; witnessing His resurrection and His triumph.

    b. We believe that The Lord's Supper is available to those faithful and repentant believers present with the universal body of Christ. There is no saving effect in the Lord's Supper nor is there any grace imputed to the church. The Lord's Supper is a memorial ordinance sacred to the church. Acts 8:36-39; Matt. 3:6; John 3:23; Rom. 6:3-5; Matt. 3:16; Matt. 28:16-20; Mark 16:14-20; Eph. 4:5; Col. 2:12; Acts 2:41; I Cor. 11:23-28; Matt. 26:26-30; Mark 14:22-26; Luke 22:19, 20; I Cor. 10:16-21; 11:18-34.

  • Of the Eternal Security and Preservation of the Saints

We believe the Doctrine of Eternal Security is the scriptural teaching that when a person believes and trusts in the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour and confesses Him so both with the heart and the mouth, by the grace of God through a saving, believing faith, that person is instantaneously born into the Family of God and as a child of God is sealed, pardoned, justified, and released from the penalty and condemnation of sin and hell; that through the new birth the very Divine Life of Christ is imputed to the believer, and he is placed in the Hand of Christ and the Hand of the Father for eternity, never to be separated from the Family of God, and shall never, never perish but have everlasting life. The believer is eternally secured and shall endure and be preserved by the Holy Spirit of God by the Love of Christ forever and for eternity. John 1:12, 13; 3:3-7, 15-18, 36; John 5:24; 6:37; John 10:28,29,30; Rom. 8:1, 34-39; Gal. 3:26; Eph. 1:12-14; Eph. 4:30; Phil. 1:6; II Tim. 1:12; Titus 1:2; Heb. 6:4-6; Heb. 7:25; Heb. 10:10-18; I Pet. 1:1-9; I Pet. 1:18-25; I John 1:8-10; 2:1-2; 5:11-13; Jude 24; Job 19:25-27; Ps. 37:24, 28; Ps. 89:29-36; 97:10; Ps. 121:3.

  • Of the Righteous and the Wicked

We believe that there is a radical and essential difference between the righteous and the wicked; that such only as through faith are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and sanctified by the Spirit of our God, are truly righteous in His esteem; while all such as continue in impenitence and unbelief are in His sight wicked, and under the curse; and this distinction holds among men both in and after death, in the everlasting felicity of the saved and the everlasting conscious suffering of the lost. Mal. 3:18; Gen. 18:23; Rom. 6:17-18; Prov. 11:31; I Pet. 1:18; Rom. 1:17; I Cor. 15:22; Acts 10:34-35; I John 5:19; Gal. 3:10; Rom. 7:6; Rom. 6:23; Prov. 14:32; Luke 16:25; Matt. 25:34,41; John 8:21; Luke 9:26; John 12:25; Matt. 7:13,14.

  • Of the Separation of the Believer

We believe that all who are truly born of God by the Spirit should separate themselves from the world and all worldliness; should conduct their lives in a Christ-like example; should have all manner of conversation and behavior beyond reproach; shall abstain from all appearances of evil; shall be attired in modest apparel, clean and well groomed; that we shall resist the Evil One and the lust of the flesh, avoid all heresy and false doctrine; that we shall seek the fruits of the Spirit and live a yielded life to the Holy Spirit of God. Rom. 12:1, 2; I Cor. 6:19, 20; I Cor. 10:14; II Cor. 5:17-19; Eph. 5:11-17; Gal. 5:16-18; I John 2:15-17; Titus 2:11-14; James 4:4; I Pet. 2:11-17; II Tim. 3:1-5; Jude 17-25; I John 2:15-16; Jude 17-25.

  • Of Civil Government

We believe that civil government is of divine appointment, for the interests and good order of human society; that magistrates are to be prayed for, conscientiously honored and obeyed; except only in things opposed to the will of our Lord Jesus Christ; who is the only Lord of the conscience, and the coming Prince of the kings of the earth, the Sovereign Lord of the universe unto whom our first obedience is due, according to the authority of His Holy Word, the Holy Bible, the final standard by which all mankind and governments shall be judged. Rom. 13:7; II Sam. 23:3; Ex. 18:21,22; Acts 23:5; Matt. 22:21; Titus 3:1; I Pet. 2:13,14,17; Acts 4:19-20; Dan. 3:17-18; Matt. 10:28; Matt. 23:10; Phil. 2:10-11; Psm. 72:11.

  • Of the Resurrection and Return of Christ

And Related Events We believe in and accept the sacred Scriptures upon these subjects at their face and full value. Of the Resurrection, we believe that Christ rose bodily "The third day according to the Scriptures;" that He alone is our "merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God," "that this same Jesus which is taken up from you into heaven" — bodily, personally and visibly; that the "dead in Christ shall rise first," that the living saints "shall all be changed in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump;" "that the Lord God shall give unto Him the throne of His Father David;" and that "Christ shall reign a thousand years in righteousness until He hath put all enemies under His feet." Matt. 28:6-7; Luke 24:39; John 20:27; I Cor. 15:4; Mark 16:6; Luke 24:2,4-6; Acts 1:9,11; Luke 24:51; Mark 16:19; Rev. 3:21; Heb. 8:1; Heb. 12:2; Heb. 8:6; I Tim. 2:5; I John 2:1; Heb. 2:17; Heb. 5:9-10; John 14:3; I Thess. 4:16; Matt. 24:27,42; Heb. 9:28; I Cor. 15:42-44,51-53; I Thess. 4:17; Phil. 4:20-21; Luke 1:32; Isa. 11:4-5; Ps. 72:8; Rev. 20:1-4; Rev. 20:6.

  • Of Missions

The command to give the gospel to the world is clear and unmistakable and this Great Commission was given to the churches to evangelize the whole entire world, both at home and the foreign field.  Matt. 28:16-20; Mark 16:14-16; John 20:21; Acts 1:8; Rom. 10:13-17; II Cor. 8:1-5; II Cor. 9:6-11; Mark 12:41-44; I Kings 17:8-16; I Sam. 1:11.
